You Need to Understand These Indicators About Hygiene Wet Wipes

Epidemic prevention and control have become normalized, and the sales of hygiene wet wipes, mainly used for disinfection, have soared. Many consumers will also choose hygiene wet wipes. What qualities of hygiene wet wipes should be paid attention to? Winner Medical will explain it to you in detail. For wet wipes for human use, the following points should be paid attention to.

1. Applicability indicators of hygiene wet wipes: PH value is weakly acidic

Wet wipe products are mostly weakly acidic. The pH value of the extruded liquid of hygiene wet wipes used for hands, skin and mucous membranes is generally 3.5 to 8.5, and a pH value of 5 to 6 is usually ideal, but not mandatory. Everyone can choose according to their own situation.

2. The sterilization index of hygiene wet wipes is at least 90%

Pay attention to the descriptive value of the bactericidal rate or bacteriostatic rate. The killing rate of hygiene wet wipes against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus should be ≥90%. If it is indicated that it has a bactericidal effect on fungi, the killing rate of Candida albicans should be ≥90%; if it is indicated that it has a killing effect on other microorganisms, the killing rate of corresponding microorganisms should be ≥90%.

3. Microbiological indicators of hygiene wet wipes: harmful bacteria shall not be detected

To test the microbial indicators, it is required to cultivate them in a clean room and culture in a biological safety cabinet for a period of time to determine. The following shall not be detected: the total number of bacterial colonies is less than or equal to 20CFU/g of coliform bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, hemolytic streptococcus and fungal colonies.

4. Active ingredients for sterilization of hygiene wet wipes: scientific limit

The bactericidal active ingredients of the hygiene wet wipes for skin and mucous membranes (including the bactericidal active ingredients with cleaning effect) should use non-industrial grade raw materials. Commonly used quaternary ammonium salts such as benzalkonium chloride used in medical disinfection towels have good disinfection effect, but they will cause corrosive effects on the skin and mucous membranes, and have strong corrosive effects on the eyes, so it needs to be limited, and users need to pay special attention to the content when purchasing.

5. Fluorescent agent for hygiene wet wipes: no migration fluorescent whitening agent

In order to "whiten" the surface of many wet wipes produced by wet wipes supplier, fluorescent whitening agents will be added illegally. Fluorescent agents can cause skin allergies, and frequent exposure will increase the burden on the liver and kidneys, and even lead to the risk of cancer. Qualified wipes should not be detected with migratory optical brighteners.

6. The preservatives and additives of hygiene wet wipes meet the requirements of the Pharmacopoeia

Preservatives: The preservatives used should meet the national or food and cosmetic raw material requirements.

Additives: The corresponding ingredients and their raw materials with the same name and other prohibited substances stipulated by the state should not be added.
